Quarter Moon Acres Equine Therapy Center is needing a lot of volunteers to help special needs individuals have a safe and pleasurable horseback riding program. Each horse/client must have three individuals; one to lead (must have horse experience and be an adult), and two to walk along side of the horse (must be comfortable with horses and special needs individuals). The volunteers to be with the horse & client need to be older teens and adults that are very comfortable around horses and can run with the horse or walk at a very fast pace.
Quarter Moon Acres will need these volunteers for three different times on Tuesdays -- 3 PM (if needed), 4:30 PM and 6 PM You can volunteer for as many or as few hours as your schedule allows -- or just sign up to be a substitute. The Tuesday therapy sessions begin in May and run through September.
There are also opportunities available to volunteer with no horse experience. We are always on the lookout for bakers (we feed all our volunteers every session) We are also always looking for people that are interested in fundraising, general up keep of the the facility... the list goes on and on.
Younger teens and youth can also volunteer at the ranch. Although they may not work directly with the horses, they can still be a important part of this therapy by helping with grooming, saddling, feeding or just general maintenance. There is no job too small when it comes to horses.
If you know that you want to volunteer, Please contact us for more information.
To see an individual smile (or laugh) when riding a horse, is truly the greatest reward in itself!
